SUMMARY
Appressed-climbing on tree trunks to at least 3 m above ground, the fertile shoots pendent. Internodes 0.8-8,4 cm long, 0.7-1.2 (-2.2?) cm wide, dark green to olive-gray or silvery gray, glossy, unmarked, drying stramineous to dark brown, coarsely sulcate; roots rather few at distal nodes, to ca. 3.0 mm in diameter. LEAVES: Petiole (17.9-) 25.0-36.6 (-48.2) cm long, P/L=0.94-1.35 (-1,39), semiglossy to glossy, sparsely short-lineate, sheathed 77-85 (-91)%, the sheath erect (proximally) to erect-spreading or (distally) widely spreading, somewhat inequilateral, scariousmargined, glossy on both surfaces, the free portion prolonged by 1.0-3.0 mm; unsheathed portion of petiole 4.0-8.1 cm long, broadly and bluntly to moderately sharply canaliculate above. Lamina (18.2-) 20.1-38.0 cm long, (10.2-) 14.7-26.5 cm wide, L/W=(1.23-) 1.32-1.54 (-1.78), IQI=(1-) 3-6 (-7), moderately thin but firm (chartaceous?), matte to velvety above, matte below, weakly to moderately bicolored, broadly ovate to elliptical (broadest at or below the middle), abruptly short- to (less frequently) long-acuminate apically [the acumen 0.6-1.3 (-1.9) cm long], broadly cuneate to truncate (often ± obliquely) or subcordate basally, with the sinus to ca. 0.95 cm deep; midrib broadly sulcate above, prominently convex below; primary lateral veins 10-16 per side, 0.2-4.8 cm apart, sunken and concolorous above, convex and concolorous below, with interprimaries visible especially toward base; minor veins distinctly visible and darker below; abaxial laminar surface drying virtually smooth to uniformly and ± densely granular or low- granular, patchily alveolate, with reticulate veins not evident; white stitching not evident to scattered or obvious (especially distally); resin canals sometimes visible between secondary lateral veins; adaxial surface similar but with occasional bare streaks; white stitching at best very rare and scattered; resin ducts not evident. INFLORESCENCES solitary or paired; cataphylls generally present, 8.1-16.5 cm long, 0.8-1.0 cm wide, lanceolate, sharply 2-keeled, deciduous; peduncle ca. 5.3-6.8 cm long, P/S=0.62, pale green, with ± elevated whitish or darker" dashes (especially distally); spathe at anthesis 12.8-16.5 cm long, 2.1-2 8 cm wide, externally "rich green'' and inflated below, lighter green distally, internally greenish; spathe drying densely granular with scattered to ± abundant white stitching externally, internally finely granular-verrucate with white stitching not evident, with longitudinal secretory striations in basal 3/5; acumen of spathe 0.6-1.0 cm long. Stipe of spadix 0.4- 0.8 (-1.7?) cm long; spadix 10.4-10.9 (-12.0?) cm long, the fertile male portion at anthesis unknown; sterile male zone "ca 1.5 cm long'' (Bunting to Fleming 13554); fertile female portion of spadix 3.65 (-4.00?) cm long, F/S=0.33, ca. 0.80-1.15 cm wide (slightly post-anthesis); fertile male flowers unknown; sterile male flowers unknown; female flowers 1.2-1.9 mm long, 0.7-1.0 mm wide, the stylar canals ca. 3. INFRUCTESCENCE: Ripe fruits unknown. Seeds unknown.
