Philodendron longipedunculatum is a member of P. subgenus Philodendron sect. Calostigma, subsect. Macrobelium, series Macrobelium and is known only known from Colombia in the vicinity of Cabo Corrientes, at near sea level, and probably endemic to Choco. It is rare in the forest and the only collection was near the tip of Cabo Corrientes in an open area, near a creek.
