SUMMARY
Small herb with long, usually slender, cylindric, horizontal rhizome 0.8-1 cm. in diameter. LEAF solitary on each shoot, subtended by linear cataphyll ± reaching middle of petiole; petiole terete, 6.5-10 cm. long, 1-1.5 mm. in diameter, erect to spreading, green; pulvinus basal, oblong, 1-1.5 cm. long, 0.4 cm. in diameter; blade bipinnately compound, cordate-sagittate in outline, 10-11 cm. long, 9–10 cm. broad; pinnae opposite, pinnately lobed; ultimate lobes linear-lanceolate to oblanceolate-elliptic, 1-7.5 cm. long, 0.2-2 cm. broad, acute to subacute, cuneate, decurrent, green, slightly paler beneath. INFLORESCENCE solitary, sessile at soil-surface; peduncle 1 cm. long or less, 0.3 cm. in diameter, subterranean, subtended by 3-5 ovate-oblong cataphylls 0.3-2 cm. long. Spathe 3-4.5 cm. long; tube broadly and shortly ovoid, constricted at apex, 0.6-1 cm. long, 0.7-1 cm. in diameter, pale pinkish brown on outer surface; limb ovate to lanceolate, 2-3.5 cm. long, 1.7 cm. broad, cuspidate, spreading to reflexed when anthers dehisce, pale pinkish brown with whitish margins. Spadix 2–3.7 cm. long, slightly shorter than spathe; staminate part cylindric to clavate, 1.2-2.2 cm. long, 0.5-0.6 cm. in diameter, apex rounded, base narrowing, with tepals cream, pistillodes white, equalling tepals; sterile part centrally constricted, 0.5-1.2 cm. long, 0.3-0.5 cm. in diameter, tepals greenish cream, pistillodes prominent; pistillate part conic, 0.4-0.6 cm. long, 0.7-0.9 cm. in diameter, tepals pinkish brown. Staminate flower: staminal tube equalling tepals; anthers not exserted. Pistillate flower: pistil laterally flattened, ovate, 3 mm. long, 2 mm. broad, ovary 2-locular, locules uniovulate, placentation at base of septum; stigma 1-1.5 mm. broad, ± discoid, green. INFRUCTESCENCE: Fruit not seen.
