Description based on dried material. Terrestrial or epiphyte; roots 1-3 mm diam., brownish white to dark brown; stem 1.2-2.5 cm diam., terete, reddish brown; internodes short, 0.4-0.7 cm; cataphylls 16.4-21.6 cm, unribbed, subcoriaceous, triangular-oblong-lanceolate, reddish brown, promptly withered into a reddish brown fibrous network, densely persistent, sometimes with fragments of epidermis. LEAVES erect; petioles 34.7 x 75.1 cm, 0.3-0.7 cm diam., subterete, narrowly and obtusely sulcate, dark green and semiglossy; sheath 1.6-2 cm; geniculum 1.2-1.8 cm; blades subcoria ceous, 36.2-48.7 x 19.8-32.1 cm, wider in the insertion of petiole or toward the base, narrowly ovate, semiglossy, acuminate at apex, deeply cordate at base, moderately bicolorous, dark green and glossy adaxially, drying brown, paler and semiglossy abaxially, drying dark brown; margins straight to weakly concave; posterior lobes oblong, directed toward the base, 8.4-13.2 cm; sinus hippocrepiform; midrib narrowly raised in valleys adaxially, acute and slightly paler abaxially; primary lateral veins 8 to 12 pairs per side, slightly recurved to ascending, raised adaxially in valleys, acutely raised abaxially, departing midrib at 55°-70°; tertiary veins in part sunken adaxially, raised abaxially; basal veins 6 to 7 pairs, fused 2nd (sometimes 1st or 3rd) to 6th or 7th to the basal ribs; posterior ribs 4.1-6.3 cm, slightly recurved, naked 2.2 4.7 cm; collective veins arising from 1st or 4th basal veins, 2-6 mm from the margins. INFLORESCENCE erect; peduncle 24.3-35.6 cm, 0.3-0.6 cm diam., greenish, 0.4-0.8x longer than the petiole; spathe subcoriaceous, green, persisting, hooding spadix, 8.6-9.3 x 2.3-2.6 cm, elliptic-lanceolate, acute at apex, obtuse at base, the margins meeting at ca. 1700; spadix cylindric, weakly tapered, 6.4-8.4 cm, 0.5-0.6 cm diam. near to base, 0.4-0.5 cm diam. near to apex, pale green; stipe 0.5-0.8 cm in front, ca. 0.2 cm in back. Flowers square, margins straight, ca. 2 x 2 mm; 6 to 10 flowers visible on the principal spiral, 5 to 6 flowers visible in the alternate spiral; tepals broadly convex in the inner margins; pistils with stigmas rounded; stamens protruding at anthesis; anthers surrounding the stigmas; thecae divaricate. INFRUCTESCENCE spreading; spadix ca. 14.8 cm, ca. 1.2 cm diam., dark green; berries ca. 0.4 cm.
