Anthurium paraguayense Engl.
SUMMARY
Epiphytic or epilithic herb, up to 1.5 m tall. Stem erect, internodes 0.5-0.8 x 1.5-3 cm, cataphylls persisting as fibers. Petiole 3-25 x 0.5-1.1 cm, essentially "d" shaped to square, deeply sulcate, usually with an adaxial rib. Leaves 55-88 x 8-17.5 cm, oblong to oblanceolate, subcoriaceous, sometimes undulate, secondary nerves 5-9 per side, arising at an angle of 35-65°, base acute to truncate, apex acuminate. Inflorescence erect to spreading, peduncle 21-63 x 0.5-0.9 cm, spathe lanceolate 3-12 x 1-3.2 cm, green tinged with purplish, spadix green to purplish or brownish, 4-13 x 0.8-1.6 cm, tapering. Flowers 2-3 x 2-3 mm, square. Berries dark red, 0.7-1 x 0.3-0.5 cm.
