SUMMARY
LEAVES: Petiole subcylindrical, short-sheathed at the base, unisulcate adaxially, 5-6 dm [50 - 60 cm] long; geniculum 1-1.5 cm long; blades thinly cartilaginous, green, paler below, ovate-elliptic, 2/5 longer than wide, 4.5-5.5 dm [45 - 55 cm] long, 3-3.5 dm [30 - 35 cm] wide; posterior lobes more than 1/4 as long as [less than 4 times shorter than] anterior, retrorse, convergent; sinus oval; primary lateral veins of the posterior lobes 5, coalesced into posterior ribs naked 3.5 cm, the 3 interior and 2 interlobar, (1st 5 basal veins), together with 9-10 primary lateral veins, (spreading at about a 45 degree angle), confluent into a collective vein 2-3 mm from the margin. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle somewhat equalling petiole; spathe coriaceous, linear-lanceolate, narrowed upward, purplish, equalling the spadix at anthesis, 1.2-1.5 dm [12 - 15 cm] long, 12-15 mm wide, green-purplish below, rosy-purple within; spadix subsessile, cylindrical, flexible, purple, at anthesis, enlarged. INFRUCTESCENCE: Tepals at fructescence about twice as long as wide; berry oblong-elliptic, acute at the apex, purple, black.
