SUMMARY
Stem elongated, decumbent, densely covered by thickish, 2 - 3 cm long cataphylls. Petiole terete, more than twice as short as blade or subequal to it, 3 - 9 cm long, geniculum 1 - 1.5 cm long. LEAF blade coriaceous, bullate adaxially, deep green, pale abaxially, cordate-ovate, shortly acuminate, 10 -15 cm long, 6 - 8 cm wide, primary lateral veins of the midrib 3 - 4 on each side, strongly ascending, all or the uppermost ones joined into a collective vein running through the middle of each half of the leaf blade, secondary lateral veins transverse. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle as long as the petiole or shorter, 2 - 4 cm long. Spathe thick, patent, reddish, broadly cordate-ovate, 3.5 - 4 cm long, 2 - 2.5 cm wide. Spadix with a stipe 1 cm long or longer, thick, reddish-green, shorter than spathe, 2 - 3.5 cm long, 1.5 cm thick. Tepals short, oblong, apex pointing upwards. Stamens nearly twice as long as tepals. Ovary conoid narrowed into a distinct style, equalling stamens in length, greenish and purple-punctate. Berries ovoid, rostrate with the style remnant, green, 5 mm long, 3 mm thick. INFRUCTESCENCE: Seeds shortly obovoid, testa brown, minutely verruculose. Embryo hatchet-shaped.
