SUMMARY
Stem robust, covered with large fibrose-dilacerated cataphylls. LEAVES: Petiole robust, canaliculate adaxially, ca. 25 cm long. Leaf blade thinly coriaceous, completely glabrous on both surfaces, sagittiform, up to 40 cm long, 25 cm wide, anterior lobe narrowly triangular, shortly acuminate at the apex, minutely apiculate at the extreme apex, posterior lobes extrorse, rounded, separated by a wide, obtuse sinus, ca. 1.5 times shorter than anterior lobe, basal primary lateral veins 4 - 5, joined into robust basal ribs long-denuded in the sinus, primary lateral veins of the midrib ca. 8 - 10 on each side, spreading from the midrib at an angle of 70 - 80 deg., ascending and curving, eventually joining into a slender collective vein 3 - 5 mm distant from the margin. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle robust, canaliculated chiefly towards the base, ca. 35 cm long, 1.2 cm thick at the base, becoming more slender upwards, but becoming thickened again below the spathe. Spathe narrowly oblong, at the apex acuminate for ca. 1 cm, 15 cm long, up to 38 cm wide, dark brown when dried. Spadix with a 7 - 8 mm long stipe, narrowly cylindric, obtuse at the apex, slightly curved, 14 cm long, 6 - 9 mm thick. Tepals obtuse. Stamen filaments dilated. Ovary crowned with a short, oblong, non-elevated stigma.
