SUMMARY
Stem scandent; internodes short, 1-1.5 cm diam.; cataphylls linear-lanceolate, frequently overtopping internodes, soon weathered. LEAVES: Petiole briefly sheathed at the base, 2.5-3.5 [25 - 35 cm] dm long; subterete, together with the midrib and peduncle, angulate-striate, purplish; geniculum 1.5-2 cm long; blades paler beneath, subtruncate, retuse or emarginate from the base narrowly oval-lanceolate, acuminate at the apex, 3.5-4.5 dm [35 - 45 cm] long, 1.2-1.5 dm [12 - 15 cm] wide; primary lateral veins, the lowermost 2-3 merging near the margin, the remaining, 2-1.5 cm apart, coalesced in a collective vein barely 2-3 mm from the margin.
