SUMMARY
Internodes 0.4-0.7 (-0.9) cm long. LEAVES: Petiole 5.0-13.7 cm long, P/L=(0.38-) 0.44-0.83 (-0.94), with free portion of sheath somewhat asymmetrically prolonged by ca. 0.5 mm. Lamina (7.9-) 11.0-18.0 (-20.3) cm long, (2.4-) 3.7-9.9 (-12.0) cm wide, L/W=(1.36-) 1.53-3.21 (-3.47), membranous to thinly coriaceous or (rarely) subcoriaceous, concolorous to obscurely or (rarely) moderately bicolored, narrowly to broadly elliptical to narrowly ovate-lanceolate, ovate, oblanceolate, suborbicular or (rarely) oblong, rounded or subtruncate to broadly or narrowly cuneate or (rarely) minutely cordulate basally; primary lateral veins 5-10 per side; abaxial laminar surface drying uniformly and very densely granular (or less densely so from Honduras northward); resin canals usually visible, flanking the lateral veins at a distance (or not visible, especially on older leaves); adaxial surface obscurely to moderately or densely and uniformly granular (the granules occasionally more concentrated along the veins); scattered white stitching visible, parallel to the lateral veins. INFLORESCENCES: Spathe at anthesis (7.1—) 8.4-15.7 cm long; spathe drying moderately to densely small-granular and usually conspicuously white-lineate externally, internally with longitudinal secretory striations in basal 2/3 or nearly to apex; acumen of spathe to 1.3 cm long (-2.4 cm from Honduras northward). Stipe of spadix (0.2-) 0.4-1.2 cm long; spadix (6.4-) 6.7-12.8 (-13.3) cm long; apical sterile male zone not evident. INFLORESCENCES: Seeds 0.8-1.0 mm, 0.20-0.30 mm wide.
