Philodendron biribiriense Sakuragui & Mayo
SUMMARY
Epilithic herbs. Stem: apex green becoming greyish in the mature parts, internodes 1.5-6 cm long. Prophyll 6-14.5 x 1-2 cm, linear-lanceolate, greenish-cream becoming chestnut-coloured. LEAVES: Petiole 13-25 cm long. Leaf blade 13-25 x 9-15 cm, ovate to broadly ovate, apex acute, base cordate, glaucous on the adaxial surface, pale green on the abaxial surface, sub-coriaceus to coriaceous; anterior division 11-15.5 x 9-15.5 cm, primary lateral veins 3-5 per side, weakly impressed on the adaxial surface; posterior divisions 4-6 x 5-7.5 cm, acroscopic veins 0-1 per side, basiscopic veins 0-3 per side; basal veins 1-4 with none or rarely 1 free to base; posteriro rib naked for 0.2-0.5 cm. INFLORESCENCE: Inflorescence: 1 per floral sympodium; peduncle 2.4-4 cm long. Spathe 10-11 x 1.5 cm, boat-shaped, not constricted, reddish-green outside, greenish-red inside. Spadix 8.5-10.5 cm long; male zone 4-5 cm long, cream; male sterile zone 0.9-1.2 cm long, cream; female zone 3-3.5 cm long, vinaceous. Flowers: stamens 0.9-1.2 x 1-1.1 mm; sterile stamens 1.2-1.8 x 1-2 mm; gynoecium 1.6-2 x 1-1.2 mm, ovary 7-9-locular, 3-4 ovules per locule, sub-basal placentation.
