Philodendron caudatum K.Krause
SUMMARY
Branchlets slender, terete, upper internodes short, 1 - 1.5 cm long, 5-6 mm thick. LEAVES: Petiole 4.5 - 5.5 cm long, sheath subcoriaceous, persistent, rather broad, somewhat more expanded upwards beneath the base of the blade, free, but extending beyond the baled base in a ligule; Blade thinly coriaceous, oblong or ovate-oblong, apex rather long, oblique, cuspidate-acuminate, base obtuse or rarely subobtuse, 12-16 cm long, 4.5 - 6.5 cm wide, somewhat unequal sided, one width 1/4 wider than the other, primary veins departing the midrib at ca. 45º angle, running towards the margin, arcuate ascending, somewhat thixcker than secondary and tertiary veins. INFLORESCENCES: Peduncle short, terete, moderately robust, 1 - 1.5 cm long. Spathe narrow, oblong, slightly constricted ca. halfway or somewhat lower than halfway, apex with a very finely acute, caudiform [tail-like] 3-4 cm long cuspid, 12-14 cm long, 1-1.5 cm in diameter, convolute. Spadix shortly stipitate, slender, narrowly cylindric, apex obtuse, 8-10 cm long, barely 8 mm thick; female zone 2.5 times shorter than male zone. Pistil depressed-cylindric, 1.5 mm long.
