Philodendron cipoense Sakuragui & Mayo
SUMMARY
Epilithic herb. Stem: green at apex becoming greyish-chestnut in the mature parts, internodes 1-2 cm long. Prophyll 9-21 x 2-3 cm, narrowly lanceolate, greenish cream becoming maroon when old. LEAVES: Petiole 13-40 cm long. Leaf blade 24-41 x 19-36 cm, broadly ovate to circular, apex acute, base cordate to subcordate, frequently conduplicate; anterior division 13-30 x 19-36 cm, coriaceous, primary lateral veins 5-6 on each side, interprimary veins prominent on the abaxial surface; posterior divisions 6-12 x 7-10 cm, acroscopic veins 0-2 per side, basioscopic veins 1-3 on each side; basal veins 1-5, 2 coalesced 1-1.5 cm, most of the remainder coalesced 0.2-0.5 cm; posterior rib naked for 0.2-0.5 cm. INFLORESCENCE: Inflorescence 1 per floral sympodium; peduncle 3.5-5.5 cm long. Spathe 13-16 cm long, boat-shaped, not constricted, greenish cream outside, greenish red inside. Spadix 8-13 cm, male zone 5.5-8 cm long; male sterile zone 0.8-1.5 cm long; female zone 2.5-4 cm long. Flowers: stamens 1.3-2 x 0.9-1.2 mm; intermediate staminodes 2-2.5 x 1.5-2 mm; gynoecium 1.6-2 x 1-2 mm, bottle-shaped, ovary 6-8-locular, ovules 3-4 per locule, placentation sub-basal.
