Philodendron colombianum R.E.Schult.
SUMMARY
Herb growing in humid places, up to 11/2 feet tall. LEAVES: Leaf ovate, apex gradually cuspidate-acuminate, base cordate, up to 20 cm long, 10 cm wide. Primary lateral veins ascending et ca. 30º angle, connecting towards the margin. Petiole thickened towards the apex, more or less 18 cm long, terete, covered with a sheath below. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle enclosed in fibrous bracts, more or less 9 cm long, 2 mm in diameter. Spathe apex subacute, white within but purplish outside, 5 cm long, 3.5 cm wide, tube swollen, strongly contracted at the throat, 3.5 cm long, 1-1.5 cm in diameter. Spadix up to 6 cm long with a 5-6 mm long stipe. Female zone 2.5 cm long, ± 11 mm diam., male zone 2.4 cm long, 0.3 mm diam. Ovary 4 or 5 locular.
