Philodendron densivenium Engl.

Stem scandent, internodes 10-15 cm long, 1-1.2 cm thick. LEAVES: Petiole 20-30 cm long, sheathed at base for ca. 2 cm, thereafter moderately terete; blade subcoriaceous, glossy, ovate-cordate or rarely ovate-oblong-cordate, posterior lobes semiovate or semiorbicular, 4-6 cm long and sub-equally wide, 5-6 times shorter than anterior lobe, posterior lobe passing into the anterior lobe in a strongly extrorsely arcuate line; Anterior lobe with a 1 cm long slender acumen, 25 cm long, 20 cm wide in the lower part, primary lateral veins 3 on each side, borne from the base, not at all fused, 4-5 from the midrib spreading at almost right angles. Secondary lateral veins thinner, moderately dense, somewhat oblique between the primary veins, all running upwards towards the margin. INFLORESCENCE: peduncle 5-6 cm, 6-8 mm thick. Spathe initially yellow, later red or brownish, oblong-apiculate, barely 6 cm long, convolute, 2 cm in diameter in the lower part. Spadix shortly stipitate, female zone cylindric, 2.5-3 cm long, 5 mm thick; male zone elongate-claviform, apex moderately obtuse, 4 cm long, 6 mm thick halfway, gradually attenuate at both ends. Pistil depressed-globose, barely 2 mm long and almost equally wide at base, stigma moderately discoid, 6-7-locular, locules uniovulate. Male flowers commonly tetrandrous, stamens prismatic, truncate, somewhat wider than long.
