Philodendron divaricatum K.Krause

Stem scandent, terete, moderately robust, covered with a longitudinally striate yellowish brown epidermis, upper internodes 5-10 cm long, 6-8 mm thick. LEAVES: Petiole often spread out remotely along the stem, slender, 12-16 cm long, with a coriaceous, persistent sheath for somewhat more than half the length, this is 7-8 mm wide in the lower part, narrowing upwards, eventually rounded-obtuse. Blade rigid thinly coriaceous, ovate-oblong or ovate, with a 6-7 mm long rather broad, somewhat oblique acumen at the apex, base broadly obtusely rounded, 18-26 cm long, 10-12 cm wide, distinctly unequally sided, one side ca. 1/2 as wide as the other. Primary lateral veins 8-10, spreading from the midrib at 75-80º, especially distinctly prominent on the underside, arcuate towards the margin, secondary veins more slender, these are parallel to the primary veins. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle short, terete, rather thick, 4-5 cm long, 5-6 mm thick. Spathe pale green, convolute, somewhat constricted below halfway, acute towards the apex, 8-10 cm long. Spadix in life as in a dry state, brownish, shortly stipitate; female zone 3-3.5 cm long, 1-1.2 cm thick, male zone narrowed, somewhat longer than female zone. Pistil prismatic, truncate at the top, with a punctiform or somewhat oblong stigma, 2-3 cm long.
