Philodendron eburneum K.Krause
SUMMARY
Stem scandent, robust. LEAVES: Petiole canaliculate above, shortly sheathed basally, 35-40 cm long, base ca. 2 cm thick, attenuating upwards; Blade rather thick, subcoriaceous, broadly ovate-cordate, almost orbicular, ca. 30 cm long and sub-equally wide, posterior lobes ovate-rounded, somewhat oblique, separated by a broad, very obtuse sinus; Anterior lobe broadly ovate, apex shortly obliquely acuminate, several times longer than the posterior lobe, 3 primary lateral veins on each side of the posterior lobe, joined together in the lower part of the posterior ribs, these are very shortly denuded in the sinus, one interlobe vein, and 7-8 primary lateral veins in the anterior lobe spreading at ca. 60-70º from the rather thick, wide midrib, these veins have 2.5-4 cm between them, ascending strongly arcuately towards the margin, prominulous on the upper side, distinctly prominent on the lower side. INFLORESCENCE: Several short (2-3 cm long) peduncles in each axil. Spathe ivory white, carmine at the base, oblong, shortly acuminate at the apex, ca. 10 cm long, convolute, 1.5-1.8 cm in diameter. Spadix ivory white, female inflorescence cylindric, 4 cm long, 8-10 mm thick, male zone narrowly conoid, subacute, equal in length and half as thick as the female zone. Pistil ovoid, attenuate upwards, ca. 2 mm long, stigma orbicular. Male flowers usually hexagonal.
