Philodendron ensifolium subsp. ensifolium (Araceae)
Internodes 0.3-1.4 cm wide, medium to dark green, drying green and finely striate. LEAVES: Petiole (12.8-) 13.1-29.9 cm long, P/L=(0.38-) 0.43-0.61 (-0.71), Lamina (26.7-) 34.1-54.4 cm long, (2.0-) 4.5-10.9 cm wide, L/W=(4.12-) 4.52- 9.33 (-14.20, juvenile plants), linear-lanceolate to narrowly lanceolate or (rarely) oblanceolate; primary lateral veins obscure (especially distally and adaxially) or occasional, usually ca. 3-6 pairs countable, usually without visible interprimaries. Cataphylls 6.0-12.3 cm long. INFRUCTESCENCES: Peduncle (0.8-) 1.7-4.2 (-8.5) cm long, P/S=(0.10-) 0.19-0.40 (-0.70).
Extreme northeastern Costa Rica (and probably south- eastern Nicaragua) to Valle Department, Colombia (but absent from the Pacific slope of Costa Rica).
Exclusively in Tropical and Premontane Wet Forest life zones in Panama and Costa Rica, but primarily in Tropical and Premontane Rain Forest in Colombia.
