Philodendron heteropleurum K.Krause
SUMMARY
Epiphytic plant. Stem scandent, terete, rather robust, uppermost internodes very short. LEAVES: Petiole robust, 7-10 cm long, sheath persistent, thinly coriaceous, up to the base of the leaf blade 5-6 mm wide on both sides in the lower part, somewhat narrower upwards, eventually rounded. Blade thinly coriaceous, ca. 2 or more times longer than the petiole, ovate-oblong, apex acuminate, narrowly acute, somewhat curved, 12-14 cm long, base rounded-obtuse, strongly unequally sided, one side almost 2 times wider than the other, 18-26 cm long, 9-10 cm wide; 7-9 primary lateral veins emerging from the midrib at 50-60º, ascending arcuately towards the margin, prominent on upper surface, distinctly prominent on lower surface, secondary veins numerous, slender, interjected between the primary veins and parallel with them. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle short, terete, robust, ca. 1.5 cm long, almost 1 cm thick. Spathe convolute, 15 cm long, contracted halfway, narrowing upwards, apex cuspidulate. Spadix: female zone cylindroid, 6-7 cm long, 2 cm thick; male zone as long as female zone but thinner, narrowly conoid, apex acute, occasionally slightly curved. Pistil oblong, truncate at the top, stigma somewhat oblong, barely raised.
