Philodendron lacerum (Jacq.) Schott
SUMMARY
Stem scandent, internodes 4-8 cm long, 1-1.6 cm thick. Cataphyll sublanceolate, 8-10 cm long, 2 cm wide in the lower part. LEAVES: Petiole terete, smooth, 20-35 cm long, almost 1 cm thick at base; primary leaves ovate-lanceolate entire, posterior margin somewhat undulate, the following leaf crenate, adult leaves cordate-ovate in outline, base ca. 6 cm long and 2 cm wide, sinuate, margin thickly incised-crenate, 16-22 cm long and almost equally wide; lobules in juvenile plants semi-ovate, or semi-oblong in adult plants, rounded, obtuse or acute towards the upper part, 4 cm long halfway, 2-2.5 cm wide, lower and upper ones shorter, terminal ones semi-ovate, cuspidate, 1.5-3 cm long, 2-3 cm wide, primary lateral veins 8-10 on each side, the lowermost radiating from both sides of the sinus, shortly joined at the base. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncles 2-3 from each axil, 20-30 cm long. Spathe slender, 10-12 cm long; tube internally purplish, cylindroid, raised striate, convolute, 1 cm wide; blade sulphur-coloured, oblong, 2 cm wide. Spadix shortly stipitate, cylindroid; female zone 4 cm long, neutral zone shorter, and male zone somewhat longer. INFRUCTESCENCE: Berries pale, 3 mm long, 7-9-locular, locules 3-4-seeded; seeds ovoid, longitudinally ribbed when dry.
