Philodendron loefgrenii Engl.
SUMMARY
Hemi-epiphytic, epilithic, sometimes terrestrial vine. Stem: green apex becoming straw- coloured in the mature parts, internodes 1.5-4 cm long. Prophyll 9-31 x 0.8-3.5 cm, narrowly triangular, pale green to creamy green. LEAVES: Petiole 9-35 cm long. Leaf blade 16-40 x 6-19 cm, oblong to ovate to ovate-elliptic, base cordate, subcordate, base truncate to cuneate, apex acute to acuminate, chartaceous to sub-coriaceus; anterior division 15-30 x 6-19 cm, primary lateral veins 0-2, not poorly differentiated; posterior divisions 2-8 x 3-6.5 cm or absent; basal veins absent. INFLORESCENCE: 1 per floral sympodium; peduncle 2-5 cm long. Spathe 12-19 x 2-5 cm, ovate to boat-shaped, weakly constricted, frequently with acuminate apex, white outside and inside. Spadix 10-16 cm long, male zone 3.8-6 cm long, intermediate male sterile zone 0.4-1 cm long; apical male sterile zone 3-6.5 cm long; female zone 3-4 cm long Flowers: stamens 1-2 x 0.8-1.5 mm; intermediate staminodes 1.5-2.5 x 1.5-1.8 mm; apical staminodes 1.2-2.4 x 1-1.5 mm; gynoecium 1.8-2.5 x 1.5-2 mm, ovoid, ovary 7-9-locular, ovules 4-5 per locule.
