Philodendron multispadiceum Engl.
SUMMARY
Stem scandent, up to 1 m long, lower internodes 4-5 cm long, upper ones 1-1.5 cm long. Cataphylls linear-lanceolate, 8-10 cm long, 2 cm wide, persistent for a long time. LEAVES: Petiole slightly canaliculate on the upper surface, 20-25 cm long; Blade yellowish-green rather thick, subcoriaceous, ovate-cordate, 12-20 cm long, 10-15 cm wide; posterior lobes semi-ovate or semi-orbicular, 3-5 cm long, 5-7 cm wide; anterior lobe ovate, apex obliquely acuminate, 5-6 times longer than the posterior lobes; 2-3 primary lateral veins of the posterior lobes borne at the base, and 3-4 in the anterior lobe emerging from the midrib at an obtuse angle. INFLORESCENCE: 1.2-2.5 cm long. Spathe milky, oblong, apiculate, barely constricted, 4 cm long, convolute, 5-6 mm in diameter. Spadix slender, very shortly stipitate; female zone cylindric, 2.5 cm long, 6 mm thick, male zone subconoid, obtuse, 1.8 cm long, , the base is sub-equally as thick as the female zone, somewhat attenuate upwards. Pistils pale yellow, ovoid, barely 1.5 mm long, stigma small, orbicular, 4-locular, 3-2 ovules in each locule, hemianatropous, inserted near the base. Male flowers usually tetrandrous.
