Philodendron muricatum (Araceae)
Internodes of branchlets 5-6 cm long, 5-6 mm thick, verrucose-muricate [rough with short hard points]. LEAVES: Petiole terete, 10-13 cm long, 2-3 mm thick, sheathed at the base for barely 2 mm, verruculose throughout except the sheath. Blade oblong-cordate, 12-16 cm long, 10-12 cm wide; posterior lobes oblong-obtuse, sub-extrose, separated by a deep, acute sinus, 5-6 cm long, 4-5 cm wide; anterior lobe obtuse, apex very shortly apiculate, 10-12 cm long, 8-10 cm wide, 3 stronger primary lateral veins borne from the base on each side, joined together into short posterior ribs, only one costal vein emerging somewhat above the base. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle 5 cm long, sparsely verruculose. Spathe oblong-obtuse, 6-7 cm long, 2 cm thick. Spadix with a 4-5 mm long stipe, cylindroid, obtuse; female zone 1 cm long and equally thick; male zone 4-5 cm long, 7-8 mm thick. Pistils obovoid, 1.5-1.8 mm long, 4-locular.
