SUMMARY
Hemiepiphyte or terrestrial vine; stems ca. 2 m long; internodes 4–15 cm long, 1–4.3 cm diam., green to grayish green or gray, and semiglossy to glossy, flattened on one side; sap transparent; cataphylls to 15 cm long, medium green to green and sharply 2-ribbed, brittle, deciduous; LEAVES: petioles subterete to terete, 17.5–30.5 cm long, 0.5–1.6 cm diam., medium to dark green, spongy, semiglossy, obtusely flattened adaxially, sometimes dark short-lineate; blades oblong-elliptic to lanceolate, cuspidate at apex, weakly cordulate and sometimes tapered at base, subcoriaceous to coriaceous, 27–63.5 cm long, 5–15.5 (23.4) cm wide, 2.3 to 5.6 times longer than wide, sinus 0.3–3.5 (4.5) cm deep, bicolorous, dark green and semiglossy above, paler and glossy below, drying wrinkled and uneven, dark brown or reddish brown on upper surface, semiglossy and light brown or a pale reddish brown on lower, juvenile blades narrowly elliptic and obtuse to weakly truncate at base; midrib flat, sunken and concolorous above, semiglossy, narrowly raised and slightly paler green to purplish below, drying flat to broadly convex and darker on upper surface, somewhat convex and sometimes with an acute ridge on lower surface, pairs of primary lateral veins variable, ranging from 18–32 pairs, obscure above, weakly visible and darker below to very weakly visible on both surfaces; interprimary veins very numerous, weakly raised above, totally obscure to moderately distinct below. INFLORESCENCES 1–4 (5) per axil; peduncle green, faintly striate, 12.5–15 cm long, 5–10 mm diam., spathe 11–19 cm long, 0.8–1.5 cm diam., blade of spathe medium green or pale green outside, whitish within (post-anthesis); spathe tube dark violet-purple outside and inside; spadix cylindrical, enclosed within spathe; pistillate portion 7.0 cm long, 1.3 cm diam.; flowers green, staminate flowers yellow on upper portion of spadix 8.5 cm long, 0.8 cm diam., sterile staminate portion 8 mm long; young fruits green.
