Stem scandent, internodes 10 cm or longer, 2 cm thick. LEAVES: Petioles of the biggest leaves terete, up to 80 cm long, 1-1.2 cm thick, base broadly and shortly sheathed. Blade thick, coriaceous, oblong-cordate, 60-70 cm long, 35-40 cm wide; posterior lobes sub-triangular, rounded, separated by an obtuse, triangular sinus; anterior lobe oblong, gradually narrowing in a curved extrorse line towards the apex, the apex itself rather long-acuminate, 5-6 times longer than the posterior lobes. Primary lateral veins numerous, 5-12 mm apart, and emitting secondary veins departing at a very acute angle, smaller veins ('venis') lying across the secondary veins; primary lateral veins of the posterior lobes joined together into very short, thick, denuded posterior ribs. Spadix sub-sessile, female zone cylindroid, 5 cm long, 1.5 cm thick, male zone claviform, almost 10 cm long, sub-equally as thick at the base as the female zone, attenuating upwards, finally rather obtuse. Pistils cylindroid, sub-truncate, 8-locular, with a rather broad, discoid stigma. Male flowers usually tetrandrous; stamens thick, oblong, thecae broadly linear, obtuse.
