Philodendron robustum Schott
SUMMARY
Stem abbreviated, hidden by aged cataphylls. LEAVES: Petioles robust, subterete, 2-angled on the upper side, rather broadly canaliculate, 40-60 cm long, 2.5-3.5 cm thick in the lower part, somewhat attenuating upwards. Blade thick, coriaceous, opaque on both sides, triangular-ovate in outline, 40-60 cm long, 35-50 cm wide, pinnatifid, posterior lobes gradually passing over into the main anterior lobe, segments of the posterior lobes shorter, the lower and middle segments of the anterior lobe are close together, linear-oblong and rather obtuse, apical segment obovate, shortly tridentate; midrib and primary and secondary lateral veins strongly prominently angled beneath. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle 3-4 cm long. Spathe tube white-green, oblong-ovoid, 6 cm long, blade pale green, oblong-lanceolate, apex long-acuminate, 8-9 cm long. Spadix shortly stipitate; female zone yellow, cylindric, 4-6 cm long, 2-3 cm thick; male zone pale yellow, elongate, obtuse, 8-9 cm long, the lower part sub-equally as thick as the female zone, somewhat attenuating upwards. Pistils oblong, stigma small, rounded, 5-8-locular. INFRUCTESCENCE: Berries dirty yellow, obovoid, sub-truncate, 3 mm long, locules 4-seeded.
