SUMMARY
Stem abbreviated. LEAVES: Petiole robust, flat on the upper side, with a rather broad sheath at the base for ca. 10 cm, 55 cm long, almost 2 cm thick at the base, attenuating upwards. Blade rigid, thickly coriaceous, broadly ovate-cordate, apex shortly acuminate, 45 cm long, up to 30 cm wide; posterior lobes sub-ovate-oblong, obtuse, introrse, separated by a narrow sinus, equal in length to ca. 3/4 the anterior lobe; posterior ribs denuded for 3 cm in the sinus; Basal primary lateral veins 2-3, costal veins 5 on each side, distant, emerging from the robust midrib (1 cm wide at the base, more slender upwards) at an obtuse angle, ascending slightly arcuately near the margin, impressed above, prominent beneath, many slender, lateral secondary and tertiary veins interjected between the primaries. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle short, robust, 4-6 cm long. Spathe white, oblong-lanceolate, apex shortly apiculate, slightly constricted halfway or somewhat below, 10-12 cm long, convolute ca. 2.5 cm in diameter. Spadix shortly stipitate, somewhat shorter than the spathe; female zone cylindric, 3-3.5 cm long, 1.2-1.6 cm wide; male zone sub-claviform, obtuse, 6-6.5 cm long, somewhat more slender than the female zone. Pistils prismatic, 3 mm long, 1.8 mm wide, with a somewhat bigger rounded stigma, 5-6-locular, locules multiovulate. Male flowers usually tetrandrous.
