Philodendron roseopetiolatum Nadruz & Mayo
SUMMARY
Hemi-epiphytic vine. Stem: green apex becoming chestnut-coloured or sometimes greyish in the mature parts, internodes 2.5-5 cm long. Prophyll 13.5-15 x 1.3 cm, narrowly triangular, greenish-cream. LEAVES: Petiole 30-50 cm long, with apex reddish to vinaceous and green at base with vinaceous grooves. Leaf blade 31-40 x 18.5-21, ovate to broadly ovate, apex acute, base cordate-sagittate, distinctly paler on lower surface, margin vinaceous, chartaceous to subcoriaceous; anterior division 20-26 x 18.5-21 cm, primary lateral veins 4 per side; posterior divisions 11.5-12.5 x 12-15 cm, acroscopic vein 1 per side, basiscopic vein 1 per side; basal veins 6-7, none or rarely 1 free to base; posteriror rib naked for 1-1.5 cm. INFLORESCENCE: 1-4 per floral sympodium, peduncle 3.5-5 cm long, greenish-vinaceous, with red apex. Spathe 15-19.5 x 0.9-1.1 cm, narrowly ovate, weakly constricted, outside greenish-vinaceous, with vinaceous staining at the base, inside red at the base and white on the blade. Spadix 12.5-17 cm long, male zone 3.7-4.5 cm long, cream; intermediate male sterile zone 1-1.4 cm long, white; apical male sterile zone 3.5-4.5 cm long, cream; female zone 5-6.5 cm long, greenish. Flowers: stamens 1-1.5 x 0.7-1 mm; intermediate staminodes 1.8-3.5 x 1.6-3 mm; apical staminodes 1.5-2 x 1-1.8 mm; gynoecium 2-2.5 x 1.5-2 mm, bottle-shaped, ovary 7-9-locular, ovules 3-4 per locule, placentation sub-basal. INFRUCTESCENCE: Berries immature, 3.2-4 x 2.5-3.5 mm, yellowish-green; seed 0.4 cm long, fusiform, white.
