Philodendron samayense G.S.Bunting
SUMMARY
Scandent herb. Terminal stem branches pendent, ca. 0.5 cm in diameter, internodes 5-6.5 cm long. LEAVES: Petioles 6.5-8.5 cm long, except for the distal 0.2-0.6 cm, it is all sheathed with and open and flat wing, 0.6-0.7 cm wide (wider in the leaves which subtend the inflorescence).Geniculum 0.3-0.5 cm long. Leaf blade 1.5-2 times longer (1.3-2.2) than the petiole, rigid, chartaceous-semicoriaceous (brittle when dry), ovate, conspicuously unequal-sided, 9.5-18.5 cm long, 3.8-5.3 cm wide, attenuate from the very broadest part upwards towards the apex, eventually acuminate (2.5 cm), margins subtly undulate, both surfaces very smooth, lateral veins ca. 6 on both sides, orientated at an angle of ca. 40-55º, adaxially barely apparent. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle solitary, 1.8-2.3 cm long. Spathe 7.5-9 cm long, barely contracted, tube 4.5-4.8 cm long. Spadix 0.3 cm shorter than the spathe, sitting on a 1 cm long stipe. Female zone and also the male zone each 3.8 cm long. Pistillate flowers: ovary 4-locular, ovules in each locule numerous and positioned at the top.
