Philodendron thaliifolium (Araceae)
Stem scandent, internodes rather long. LEAVES: Petiole slender, 35-50 cm long, 7-8 mm thick at the base, attenuating somewhat towards the apex. Blade thinly coriaceous, elongate-oblong-cordate, 30-45 cm long, 18-22 cm wide; posterior lobes semiovate or semioblong-ovate, retrorse, 7-10 cm long and almost equally wide, separated by a deep, obtuse, subtriangular sinus; anterior lobe gradually narrowing from the base towards the apex in a straight or an arcuate extrorse line, apex itself with a very acute, 2-3 cm long, linear-lanceolate cusp. Midrib rather broad at the base, strongly attenuating upwards, strongly prominent beneath; 5-6 primary lateral veins on each side borne at the base, joined into short posterior ribs; 7-9 costal veins, distinctly stronger than the interjected secondary veins, spreading at an obtuse angle. INFLORESCENCES: Peduncle 4-6 cm long, interrupted green-lineolate. Spathe tube swollen, 5-6 cm long, pale green externally, white internally, blade conchiform, apex long subulate-caudate, 6-8 cm long, yellowish white. Spadix shortly stipitate; female zone cylindric, 3-3.5 cm long, almost 2 cm thick; male zone ca. 2 times longer than the female zone, 1.5-1.8 cm thick at the base, attenuating upwards. Pistils suboblong, with a small round stigma, 4-5-locular. Male flowers usually 4-androus.
