Philodendron traunii Engl.

Stem scandent, moderately robust, internodes short. Cataphylls lanceolate, soon breaking up into fibres. LEAVES: Petiole 20-30 cm long, 1.2-1.5 cm thick, narrowly winged up to the apex; blade thinly coriaceous, broadly deltoid-sagittate in outline, 24-32 cm long, 20-26 cm wide; posterior lobes very short, separated by a very large sinus; anterior lobe narrowing upwards in an extrorsely curved line, apex itself shortly acuminate; 4 primary lateral veins each side borne from the base, spreading in the shortly denuded sinus; 4-6 costal veins, arising from the midrib rather widely at a ca. 45º angle, slightly arcuate ascending towards the margin, somewhat impressed above, distinctly prominent below. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle slender, 4.5 cm long. Spathe purple externally, internally yellowish, oblong, slightly constricted somewhat below halfway, apex shortly acuminate, almost 10 cm long, ca. 3 cm large. Spadix shortly stipitate, female zone subconoid, ca. 2 cm long, 1 cm thick, male sterile zone constricted 6-8 cm [?mm] long, 5-6 mm thick, fertile zone claviform, 6 cm long, attenuate at both ends, equal in thickness to the female zone. Pistills oblong, measuring almost 2 mm, stigma broadly rounded, usually 6-locular. Male flowers 4-5-androus.
