SUMMARY
Rhizome 4-15 x 2-3 cm, brown. LEAVES: Cataphylls 2-12 cm long, membranous, pale green to whitish, sometimes a little mottled, withering later. Petiole, 25-40 (-55) x 0.5-1cm diameter, green, sometimes slightly tainted red and weakly mottled; sheath 2 cm long. Leaf blade ovate, hastate or sometimes cordate at the base (cordate more often in the juvenile plants, the leaves both ± chordate or hastate at the base appearing on the same plant), cuspidate at the apex, 18-25 (-30) x 11-15 (-22) cm, green, a little paler on the lower surface; lower lobes 7-10 cm; 4-6 primary lateral veins each side, inner collective veins 0.5-1.5 cm from the edge of the leaf; the outer collective veins usually weakly developed, with a distance of 1-2 mm from the edge of the blade. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle 16-24 cm long, ca. 0.5 cm diameter, pale green, sometimes a little tainted with darker colors. Spathe 5-5.6 cm long, narrowed in the centre, greenish white to cream on both faces, sometimes purple inside of the lower part, which surrounds the female flowers; spathe longer than the spadix. Spadix 4.5-5.5 cm long, thicker towards the base; female zone cone shaped, ca. 1 cm diameter at the base, thinner towards the centre; male zone slightly claviform, ca. 0.5 cm diameter; spadix fertile to the apex, the terminal flowers sometimes sterile; sterile flowers between the male and female zones; sterile zone ca. 1 cm long; spadix yellowish or red in the specimens with spathe red inside. Synandrium ellipsoid, 3-4 mm long, 2-2.5 mm wide. Sterile flowers ± elliptic, 3-5 x 2-3 mm. Number of chromosomes 2n = 38
