Philodendron stenolobum (Araceae)
STEM decumbent or semi-erect, rarely branching 0.5-1.5 m tall, 3-10 cm thick; adventitious roots abundant, with lenti-cels; internodes 1-2 mm long, brown; pro-phyll scars 2-8 mm long, lighter than the internodes; intmvaginal squamules deciduous; foliage leaf scars rounded to transverse elliptic, 1.2-1.5 cm long, 2.1-2.3 cm wide, concolorous with prophyll scars. LEAF: 8-12 per crown; prophyll 35-40 cm long, 6-8 cm wide at base; petiole 68-77 cm long, subequaling the leaf blade, 1 cm diam. at apex, sulcate adaxially with rounded margins; leaf blade triangular in outline, upper surface dark green, semi-glossy, margins entire, drying brown, overall length 50-90 cm, overall width 24-40 cm, usually wider below petiole attachment; anterior division 37.5-79 cm long, 14-29 cm wide, apex acute to shortly acuminate; primary lateral veins 4-5 per side, regularly spaced, paler than lamina in both surfaces, arising at an angle of 50-70°; posterior divisions 25-26 cm long, 0.42-0.55 X overall blade length, 24-40 cm wide, basal ribs denuded for 2.5-5 cm, tip rounded, primary acroscopic veins 1-2, primary basioscopic lobes usually absent, rarely 1-5 poorly developed, basioscopic lamina area -well developed, sinus between posterior divisions rhomboidal. INFLORESCENCE: peduncle 5.5-8 cm long, 1-1.3 cm diam at apex; spathe 18 cm long, 5.5 cm diam at middle, light glossy green on outer surface, white on inner surface; spadix 18 cm long, fertile male zone 5 cm, cm diam., subcylindric, sterile male zone 7 cm, longer than fertile male zone cm diam., thicker basally, conspicuously thicker than fertile male zone, female zone 6 cm, 2.5 cm diam. FLOWERS: stamens 4-6 mm long, 0.8 mm diam. at apex; staminodes 5-6 mm long, longest at base of sterile zone, at apex 1-1.2 mm diam., subprismatic, usually flattened tapering gradually and then abruptly to base; gynoecium 3-4.5 mm long, ovary cylindric, 1-1.5 mm diam., locules 7-8 per ovary, ovules 2-3 per locule, style body slightly narrower than the ovary, central dome absent, stigma 1.5-2 mm diam. FRUIT unknown.

Hemiepiphyte in forest or occasionally terrestrial in open areas.
