SUMMARY
Stem assurgent, short, somewhat densely full of leaves. LEAVES: Petiole, length various (4-5 dm [40 - 50 cm]) sometimes somewhat equalling the blade, sheathed acutely at the base, slightly terete, mildly canaliculate adaxially; geniculum short, tumid, 5-8 mm long, thickened; blades coriaceous, dark green above, glaucescent below, elongate-linear-lanceolate, rounded at the base, often somewhat cordate, long-acuminate at the apex, 3-7 dm [30 - 70 cm] long, 3-5 cm wide; midrib semiterete below; primary lateral veins 18-25 pairs, joined in a collective vein along the margin 1/4-1/5 of the way in from the side. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle terete, shorter than leaves, slightly smooth above, to 6 dm long; spathe linear-lanceolate, acuminate, clasping at the base, a little overtopping half of the spadix, 5-7 cm long, 5-6 mm wide; [spadix] elongate-cylindrical. INFRUCTESCENCE: Berries somewhat globose (or spherical), on the whole, green.
