SUMMARY
Herb terrestrial in restinga vegetation, often locally sparse; Stem vertical, 2-6 x 1-2 cm, covered by small tubercles. LEAVES 2- 3 per plant, erect; petioles 10-30 x 0.3-0.5 cm, completely green to marbled at base, sheathed to 1/3-1/2 of petiole length; leaf blade glossy green on both surfaces, subcoriaceous, ovate, cordate, sagittate or subhastate, 10-13 x 2.0-2.5 cm, never fenestrate; anterior division lanceolate to oblong, 6.6-10 x 2.0-2.5 cm, wider at base, priInary lateral veins 2-4 per side, departing at a 40- 50° angle from the midrib, curved toward apex, apex acuminate; posterior divisions 0.5-3 x 2-3.5 cm, sometimes almost absent, base rounded to subhastate, basiscopic nerves 0-1, acroscopic nerves 0-1, basal rib denuded for no more then 5 mm. INFLORESCENCES solitary, erect at anthesis; peduncles 12-15 x 0.4-0.5 cm, almost completely underground to up to 5 cm above ground; spathe 5.5-6.5 x 1-1.5 cm, green with purplish margins outside, purple striated in white inside, convolute basally forming tube, lamina fornicate; spadix sessile or shortly stipitate, oblique basally, cylindrical, 1-1.5 x 0.5-0.8 cm. Flowers rhombic to square, 2 x 2 mm, tepals 4, fornicate, 1.6-2 X O.8-1 mm, stamens 2-2.4 x 0.6-O.8. mm, filament flattened, anthers elliptic 0.4-0.5 x 0.4-0.6 cm, apically dehiscent by a pore, gynoecium ovoid, stigma small, flattened, rounded, conoid style, ovary 1-2-locular, each locule 1-2-ovular. INFRUCTESCENCE just above the ground, not nodding; berries completely green or dark purple at apex, ovoid, 3-4 x 3-4 mm; Seed lost, not seen.
