Amorphophallus atroviridis
Tuber elongate, to 20 × 5 cm, often irregularly branching; petiole 10–70 × 1–2 cm, dark reddish brown with some orbicular, dirty white, brown centred, spots and numerous, tiny, dirty white dots, surface densely velvety hairy; leaf blade 18–100 cm diam., rachises winged; leaflets large, obovate to oblong-elliptic, short acuminate, slightly succulent, 9–33 × 4.5–14 cm, adaxially with minute, erect, white hairs, dark emerald-green to blackish green with a conspicuous, pinkish violet margin and often a bluish sheen, margin sinuous, abaxially greyish green, main and secondary veins pale pink, with many white hairs, the surface between them less hairy, margin pinkish violet. Inflorescence solitary; cataphylls 2, brownish red with some paler spots; peduncle appearance as petiole, 23–46 × 1–1.7 cm; spathe erect, oval to ovate, 8–16 × 7–10 cm, lower third convolute, separated from the limb by a shallow constriction; spathe limb triangular, acute, margins slightly reflexed, base dirty whitish outside, pale greenish, pinkish or pale greyish green, upwards grading to pale green at apex, pink or pale brown with many, small, irregular, scattered, dirty white spots or entirely spotted that way, the margin pinkish violet, main veins in the lower half dark brown, interior pale whitish green, suffused with purple near the upper margin, entire margin pinkish violet, base within densely clothed with irregularly shaped, more or less flattened warts, surface of warts verruculose; spadix sessile, about twice as long as spathe, 20–38 cm long; pistillate flower zone cylindrical, ca 1–2.5 × 1.2–1.5 cm, flowers slightly distant or congested; ovaries depressed, more or less orbicular in cross-section, ca 1.5 × 2.5 mm, pale green, dirty violet near the style-insertion, base with distinctly conical epidermal cells; style short, ca 1 × 0.8 mm, straight or slightly upcurved, dirty violet or pale green with a pale violet apex; stigma depressed, irregularly disciform, rounded or slightly angular in cross-section, 0.6 mm × ca 2 mm, surface with several, very small, obtuse conical warts and one, usually eccentric, large, conical-rounded wart/lobe, dirty orange-yellow or dirty grey; sterile interstice 0.3–1 cm long, carrying a few or many congested staminodes; staminodes semiflattened, oval or angular in cross-section, ca 5 mm, sometimes with radial grooves near the margin, ivory-white, surface with numerous active glandular cells; staminate flower zone elongate-conical or nearly cylindrical, 4–9 × 1.5–2.1 cm, flowers congested; staminate flowers 3–5-androus; filaments short, fleshy, ca 1.5 × 2 mm, in the lowermost flowers entirely connate and strongly enlarged, ca 5 mm long; creamy white, connective may be flushed pale brownish, pores apical or sublateral, elongate; appendix slender, acute, irregularly, shallowly sulcate with some small, punctiform, shallow warts, brown, pale brown or reddish brown, 14–26 × 1.3–1.8 cm (near base). Fruit elongate, ca 1.5 cm long, yellowish white or yellow.
Thailand. Endemic. The type [S.HYNDMAN S.N., cult. sub. W.L.A.HETTERSCHEID H.AM.107-T (holotype L), was received with no known locality
