Amorphophallus cruddasianus
Tuber elongate, to 30 × 6 cm, dirty yellowish white. Leaf solitary; petiole 30–65 cm long, smooth or velvety hairy, background green or very dark brown, with large, elongate-elliptic, confluent, pale greyish brown spots, the lower ones with tiny pale greyish dots (maculate); leaf blade moderately dissected, 60–100 cm diam., rachises short, winged throughout; leaflets elliptic, short acuminate, base decurrent, 6–30 × 2.5–13 cm, dark green adaxially with a narrow reddish lilac margin, paler abaxially, very glossy, velvety hairy, stronger on the veins, margin ciliate. Inflorescence long pedunculate; cataphylls 2–25 cm long; peduncle 25–91 × 0.6–2 cm (base), appearance as petiole or less strongly hairy, sometimes almost smooth; spathe ovate, 10–21 × 6.5–17 cm, acute, base convolute, opening entirely at staminate anthesis, base and limb not well separated, base exterior pale greyish with a pinkish flush and a few pale grey, inconspicuous, transverse spots and several elongate, whitish spots, veins brown, interior very pale green, largely covered by confluent, large, whitish greenish spots, limb exterior dirty green, with brownish purple veins and flushes and scattered, small, white spots, interior background pale olive-brown, largely covered by large, confluent whitish greenish spots, base within smooth; spadix sessile, slightly or distinctly longer than spathe, 18–30 cm long; pistillate flower zone cylindrical, 1–2.5 × ca 1.2 cm, flowers congested; ovaries subglobose, 2 × 3 mm, bright pale green, 2–3-locular; style very short, ca 0.3 × 1 mm, pale green; stigma 2–3–lobate, ca 1.3 × 1.8 mm, circular in outline, lobes conical, acute, surface densely verruculate, brownish yellow. staminate flower zone cylindrical or subfusiform-conical, apex truncate or constricted, flowers congested, 2.3–4 × 0.8–1.5 cm; staminate flowers consisting of 4–6 stamens; stamens 2.5–3.5 mm long, creamy white; filaments connate, forming a thick, 1.5–2.0 mm long column, especially large in the lowermost flowers; anthers subhemispherical, 1–1.5 × ca 1 mm, pores apical, elongate; appendix elongate-fusiform, 11–24 × 1.5–3 cm, shallowly rugulose with irregular shallow depressions, entirely smooth or with several scattered, short hair-like staminodes, acute, base strongly constricted, creamy white or pale yellow.
