SUMMARY
Stem shortened. LEAVES: Petiole subterete, mildly sulcate adaxially, 11/2 - 2 times longer than blade, 3-5 dm [30 - 50 cm] long; geniculum 2-3 cm long, slightly thick; blades parchment-like, smooth and polished above, shiny, dark green, paler below, oblong-cordate, acuminate; posterior lobes of the juvenile plant semiorbicular, of the adult semiovate, 1/5-1/6 as long as anterior lobe [literally "equalling 1/5-1/6 of the anterior lobe in length"]; sinus subtrianguIar; adult blades 2.5-4 dm [25 - 40 cm] long, 1.5-2 dm [15 - 20 cm] wide; basal veins 3 pairs, the innermost, together with 5-6 pairs of costal spreading at about a 90 degree angle, joined in a collective vein 1-2 cm from the margin, two exterior [veins] retrorse, joined at the base of the posterior lobe, decidedly arcuate, excurrent into the margin. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle longer than petiole, 4-5 dm [40 - 50 cm] long; spathe broadly linear-lanceolate, decurrent at the base, narrowly cuspidate at the apex, half as long as spadix, 6-7 cm long, 1-1.5 cm wide; cusp 5-7 mm long; spadix scarcely stipitate, caudiform, brown purple, 1.2-1.8 dm [12 - 18 cm] long, 6-10 mm diam. at the bottom, attenuate gradually toward the apex.
