Amorphophallus excentricus Hett.
SUMMARY
Tuber subglobose, 2–10 × 1–9 cm, seasonally developing numerous offsets, these globose or obconical, 1–3 × 1–2 cm, attached to the main tuber by a short stalk-like part. Leaf solitary; petiole ca 130 × 2.5 cm, smooth, ground colour a very pale, dirty greenish grey or creamy, towards the base pale reddish violet, covered with more or less elliptic, blackish green or dirty brownish green spots, these with a sharply defined acroscopic margin and a diffuse basiscopic margin, in between several scattered, tiny white dots; leaf blade to ca 160 cm diam., distal part of the rachises winged, wings narrowly wedge-shaped; leaflets elliptic-lanceolate, acuminate, 12–27 × 4–7 cm, adaxially dull green, abaxially paler green. Inflorescence solitary, long pedunculate; peduncle 22–62 × 1.2–1.5 cm, appearance as petiole or with brownish hue; spathe erect, cymbiform, ovate-triangular, acute, mucronate, 10–24 × 7–13 cm, basal part convolute, margin slightly recurved or not, base exterior whitish green to green or pale pinkish creamy, near the base with a few diffuse, dark green spots and numerous small, white dots or slightly larger spots, interior pale whitish green or creamy, limb exterior green or pale creamy–pinkish, with or without a few indistinct greenish spots, interior whitish or very pale whitish pinkish, towards the margin and near the apex suffused with pale pink, base within bearing numerous, small, rounded or longitudinally elongate warts; spadix sessile, slightly longer or shorter than spathe, 18–24 cm long; pistillate flower zone cylindrical or slightly fusiform, 1.5–3 cm × 1–1.4 cm, flowers congested or less so near the base; ovaries depressed, base cuneate, slightly angular in cross-section, 2–3 × 1–1.5 mm, pale green or creamy; style short and thick, 0.5–1 × 1–2 mm, pale green or creamy, often very eccentrically inserted near the acroscopic margin of the ovary; stigma disciform, ca 0.5–1.0 × 1.5–2.5 mm, irregularly angular in cross-section, surface irregularly sulcate with a central, shallow, star-shaped depression (or more or less 3– to 4– lobed), minutely verrucate, yellowish, pale orangish to brownish, margin sinuous and sometimes dark pinkish; staminate flower zone cylindrical or slightly obconical, 5–8 × 1.2–1.3 cm, flowers congested; staminate flowers 3–5-androus; off-white; appendix elongate fusiform, white, terete or dorso-ventrally flattened, apex acute or somewhat obtuse, base constricted, 6–12 × 2.2–2.6 cm at broadest point, surface irregularly, shallowly or more distinctly grooved, smooth or minutely rugulose, or heavily verrucate in the lower half or less, verrucae (staminodes) large, flattened or rounded, separated by deep, interconnected grooves. Fruit unknown.
