SUMMARY
Tuber elongate, branched, 1–10 × 1–2.5 cm, white, branching freely. Petiole 4–15 × 3–6 mm, smooth, pale green; leaf blade 5–26 cm, subpedate, rachises wingless, anterior main segment undivided; leaflets rhombic, 3–10 × 2–5.5 cm, adaxially green. Inflorescences rarely solitary, often appearing several months after leaf development and close to the end of the growing season, often developing simultaneously, short pedunculate; peduncle entirely or largely subterranean, 1–3 cm × 2–5 mm, smooth, white; spathe broadly triangular, 2–4 × 2.5–5 cm, base and limb separated by a shallow constriction, base strongly convolute, partly subterranean or entirely exposed, exterior greyish, interior smooth, dark purple; limb erect, strongly concave, acute, margin with elongate glandular epidermal cells, resulting in a micro–fimbriate appearance, exterior dirty whitish with many minute greyish flesh-coloured dots, interior dirty whitish with minute, greyish purple dots; spadix sessile, much longer than spathe, 6.5–13 cm long; pistillate flower zone cylindrical, 1–3 × 5–6 mm, flowers in 1–3 rows, congested; ovaries irregularly 2–3-lobed, 1–1.5 × 1 mm high, white with a few minute, pinkish dots; style very short, 0.05–0.2 mm long, ca 0.3 mm at the apex, conical, white; stigma depressed, irregularly elongate or triradiate, ca 0.2–0.3 × 0.1 mm high, dirty brown or white, papillate; staminate flower zone cylindrical, 4–7 × 4–6 mm, flowers congested, or partly vertically separated and arranged in oblique near-verticils; staminate flowers 1–3-androus; stamens 0.5–0.8 mm, ca 0.5 mm long; filaments ca 0.2 mm long, connate; anthers ca 0.3 mm long, truncate, orange; pores apical, elliptic after anthesis; appendix elongate, 6–12 cm × 4–7 mm, thin, straight or slightly sigmoid, acute, terete or slightly dorso-ventrally compressed, slightly narrowing to the base, dirty pale greyish brownish, surface densely verruculate. Infructescence peduncle not elongating, fruit part consisting of 2 to 5 berries in one vertical line; fruit globose, ca 7 mm diam., shallowly but distinctly costate and verrucate, blackish with whitish spots.
