SUMMARY
Underground part a short tuberous rhizome. Leaves sometimes preceding the inflorescence; petiole 16-20 cm long, 4-5 mm in diam., smooth, dark gray to reddish-brown; lamina ternate; leaflets elliptic, upper surface rich green, lower surface paler, anterior leaflet 11-11.5 cm long, 5 cm wide, lateral leaflets 12 cm long, 6-6.5 cm wide. Inflorescence solitary, sessile on the soil; peduncle entirely subterraneous, 1.5 cm long, 2 mm in diam., pale green; spathe lanceolate, 28 cm long, divided by a constriction in a convolute base and a free limb; base elliptical-ovoid, 1 cm long, 8 mm in diam., outside dirty pale pink with darker striations, inside very pale pink; limb lanceolate, 27 cm long, 1 cm in diam., sometimes twisted and folded, lower 3 mm convolute, top narrowly acute, outside and inside lower part dirty cream gradually changing to brownish beige in upper part; spadix longer than spathe, 31cm long; female part conical, 4 mm long, 4 mm in diam., pistils crowded; sterile part above female zone 1 cm long, lower 5 mm carrying staminodes, rest naked; male zone cylindric, 8 mm long, 4 mm in diam., stamens crowded; appendix 28.5 cm long, 2 mm in diam. at the base, tapering to the top, surface smooth, cream. Pistils 1.5 mm long; ovary elongate obovate, 0.5 mm in diam. near the top, subtruncate, lower half white, upper half pale pink, unilocular, one basal ovule; style 0.3 x 0.3 mm, pale pink; stigma disciform, thin, 0.1 mm long, 0.3 mm in diam., reddish, papillate. Stamens ca. 0.3 mm long, 0.2-0.3 mm in diam., pale cream; thecae opening apically with an oval pore. Staminodes subulate, 0.5-2 mm long, 0.5 mm in diam., pink to pale pink, perpendicular to the spadix axis, the lower ones the longest, the upper ones the shortest, apex obtuse, straight or more or less uncinate, surface verruculose.
