SUMMARY
Stem erect or short-scandent; internodes 3-6 cm long, 1-1.5 cm diam.; cataphylls coriaceous, rusty, lanceolate, 1.5-2 dm [15 - 20 cm] long, persisting for a long time. LEAVES: Petiole longer than blades, 4-5 dm [40 - 50 cm] long, unisulcate adaxially; blades subcartilaginous, shiny, somewhat concolorous, oval, twice as long as wide, 3.5-4 dm [35 - 40 cm] long, 1.5-2 dm [15 - 20 cm] wide, deeply cordate; posterior lobes 1/3 as long as anterior lobe, convergent; sinus obtuse, nearly semicircular; anterior lobe cuspidate; primary lateral veins of the posterior lobes 6, joined into posterior ribs briefly naked in the sinus; the innermost together with interlobar and 9-10 pairs of primary lateral veins, spreading at about a 45 degree angle, joined into a collective vein 4-6 mm from the margin. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle equalling or overtopping petiole; spathe cartilaginous, erect, oblong-lanceolate, 1-1.2 dm [10 - 12cm] long, 1.5-2 cm wide, acuminate, 2-3 times longer than spadix; spadix 1.5-1.8 dm [15- 18 cm] long, 7-8 mm diam., flexible, cylindrical, coppery-green, stipitate 10-12 mm; tepals shorter than wide [wider than long?); ovary subglobose, contracted into a slightly thick style at the apex.
