Philodendron seguine subsp. lingua-bovis Grayum
SUMMARY
Coarse, subligneous vine or liana climbing on tree trunks (or sometimes over shrubs) to at least 10-12 m the branches becoming long-pendent (but the fertile apices held erect). Internodes 0.3-1.6 cm wide (to ca. 2 cm in life). LEAVES: Petiole (9.5-) 10.0-16,7 (-18.3) cm long, P/L=(0.55-) 0.60-0.81 (-0.98). Lamina (12.2-) 15.5- 22.6 (-26.3) cm long, (5.3-) 6.0-11.1 (-16.2) cm wide, L/W= (1.37-) 1.65-2.71 (-3.28) lanceolate to narrowly or (most frequently) broadly ovate or deltate, occasionally & falcate (very rarely elliptical or nearly rotund on sterile shoots), the acumen ca. 0.9-1.8 cm long, truncate or broadly cuneate to rounded or subcordate basally (with the sinus to ca. 0.5 cm deep). INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle (1.4-) 1.8-3.2 cm long; spathe 9.9-15.3 cm long, (1.8-) 2.2-3.7 cm wide (to 4.8+ cm in fruit). Spadix (8.8-) 10.0- 14.1 cm long, fertile female portion (0.6-) 0.9-1.5 cm wide (to 3.1+ cm in fruit), F/S=0.22-0.30 (-0.33); fertile male flowers 1.5-2.0 mm long; sterile male flowers 2.1-2.5 mm long; female flowers 2.3-2.6 mm long. INFRUCTESCENCE: Seeds 0.5-0.7 mm long, ca. 0.2 mm wide (well formed, absolutely mature seeds not observed).
