SUMMARY
Seasonal geophytic herb. Stem tuberous, 2-4 x 4-6 cm. Leaf solitary, petiole 52-75 x 0.8-1.2 cm, marbled, usually carmin at the base of petiole in adult individuals,; bipinnatipartite leaf blade, 33-83 x 28-60 cm, ovate in outline. Anterior division 21-48 X 24-60 cm, lobes 4-5 per side, pinnatipartite, oblanceolate to obovate in outline, 12-36.5 x 3.5-19 cm, acuminate apex, triangularto ellipticlobes, up to 11 x 3.5 cm. Posterior divisions 12-35 x 27-33 cm, acroscopic lobes 3-4, usually entire or with undulated margins, rarely pinnatifid, basiscopic lobes pinnatifid, basal rib denuded for 0.3-5 cm. Inflorescence solitary, peduncle 11-25 x 0.4-0.6 cm. Spathe 6-22 x 2.5-4.5 cm, coriaceous, pinkish with green or gray stripes on both surfaces, acuminate at apex; spadix 6.5-13 cm long; fertile male portion 3.5-7 x 1-1.5 cm; sterile male portion 0.6-2 x 1-1.7 cm, female portion 2.6-5 x 1-1.8 cm. Male flowers in synandria 4-6-androus, 2-5 x 1.5-5 cm, short filaments 1-2 x 0.8-1 mm Female flowers with 5-6 white staminodes as long or longer than the gynoecium, 3-5 x 1 mm, gynoecium 3-6 mm long, ovary cream--colored, speckled in crimson, 1.2-2 x 1-2 mm, 3-6-locular, locules 1-ovulated style slightly longer than the ovary, 1.5-2 mm long, stigma globose, 1-2 mm diam., conspicuously 3-6-lobed, gold yellow. Infructescence with spathe persisting intact, strongly closed to the apex; berries fleshy, strongly furrowed, 3-7 x 3-6 mm, yellow or white speckled in crimson, 4-5 x 7-10 mm; seed ovoid, 3-4.5 x 1-4 cm smooth testa.
