SUMMARY
Hemiepiphytic or scandent herb, appressed-climbing. Stems covered by semi-intact dry prophylls; internodes 1-2 x 2-4 cm, slightly flattened against the substrate. Leaves: prophylls marcescent, weakly two-keeled, persisting dry and semi-intact, 15-25 cm long; petioles 35-46 x .5-1.7 cm, slightly flattened adaxially, green, covered by minute lenticellae arranged in intermittent lines; sheath up to 2 cm long; leaf blade sagittate-hastate in outline, overall dimensions 33-45 x 20-24 cm, fresh leaves medium glossy green adaxially, paler and matte abaxially; anterior division panduriform, 26-29 x 9-10 cm, primary lateral veins 7-9 per side, arising at a 70-90° angle, interprimary almost as thick as primary, apex long acuminated, acumen 1-1.2 cm; posterior divisions 10-17 x 6-7 cm, posterior lobes oblique, elliptic to ovate, apex obtuse, basioscopic side 4-5 cm wide, acroscopic side 1-2 cm wide, basal rib denudated for 3-4 cm. Inflorescences usually in pairs; peduncles 2-3 x .7-1 cm; spathe 8-8.7 cm long; tube green with white dots forming intermittent lines outside, usually tinged in burgundy, whitish inside, 4.5-5.5 x 2-3 cm, lamina green with whitish stripes outside, sometimes tinged with burgundy, whitish inside, 3.5-4 x 2-2.5 cm; spadix shorter than spathe, 5-8 cm long, fertile male portion 3-4 x .8-1.2 cm, producing abundant drops of an ochre resin, rounded to obtuse at apex, sterile male portion .3-.5 x 1-1.3 cm, female portion 3-3.2 x 1.2-1.6 cm. Flowers: male flowers 4-5-andric, prismatic, 1-1.7 x .5 mm; staminodes clavate 1-2 x .5-1 mm; gynoecium ovoid, 1.5-2.5 mm long, stigma c. 1.2 mm diam., ovary 1.5 mm diam., 4-5 locules, each locule with 6-8 ovules attached along the main axis, funicles shorter than the ovules, with inconspicuous short trichomes at base. Berries unknown.
