Araceae
Gorgonidium cardenasianum (Bogner) E.G.Gonç.
SUMMARY
This species was originally described in the genus Taccarum (Bogner, 1989). At that time, the circumscription of genera in the tribe was still unclear. After a critical analysis of all genera of the tribe Spathicarpeae it has proven to differ from the other species of Taccarum by having the female portion of the spadix completely adnate to the spadix and by the completely orthotropous ovule. Gorgonldium cardenasianum is only known from the type collection, but it is distinct enough to warrant its status as a good species because of the male flowers with well-developed connectives (only shallowly furrowed) and for the oblong thecae inserted at the same level.
